Production Diary (Weddings)

Jade & Brett

At nearly every wedding, something or someone stands out (beside the gorgeous bride and her dress, or course). Sometimes it is the location, or a grumpy but surprisingly funny grand-dad, or a mega cute flower girl that can’t help to perform a little handstand in the middle of the ceremony.

At the wedding of Jade & Brett however, everything was perfect: Beautiful bride & groom, bridesmaids (including a brides mate!) and groomsmen, happy guests, and a fantastic location: the Botanical Gardens in Brisbane.

Here are a few impressions from a beautiful wedding day…

Sarah & James

A wedding doesn’t always have to be held in an exotic location, there is something special about getting married in your own backyard.

Sarah & James‘ wedding was just that: special, and literally in their own backyard. If you live in such a beautiful place, why not enjoy it…

Annika & Justin

Photographing the wedding of your own brother in law is quite an asking. And to make sure the pressure is really on, throw in a day where scorching sun and heavy rain are playing Ping-Pong,  and blue skies swap with dark grey clouds every few minutes. There is only so much you can do in such a situation, you just deal with it. You can’t move clouds, but as long as you keep your gear dry, you adjust your angles, be patient, and capture those moments, when it all plays together.

I must admit, the bride and groom (Annika & Justin) made it quite easy for me to produce good images, being such a gorgeous couple. As a matter of fact everything on this day has been quite stunning, the bridal party, the guests, the overall relaxed atmosphere, and not to forget the scenery, the famous lighthouse in Byron Bay.

Despite the weather and the heavy expectations (which I put on my own shoulders I guess), this really has been a brilliant day.

Madeleine & Ryan

My good friend Evan has asked me, if I could photograph his brothers wedding.

Of course” I said, but I knew: the pressure was on.

Shooting for a friend is one thing, but Evan himself is also a professional camera man, who has worked for TV stations and feature films, so he definitely has an eye for details. How do you deal with a situation like this?  Was I nervous? Of course. At the end of the day however, I had to remind myself why he asked me in the first place: He likes my work, and somehow he likes me as a person as well (not quite sure why, but that’s yet another story, smile). “Let’s not think about it too much” I thought, we just go there and see, how the day unfolds.

Long story short, it has been a fantastic day, and everything you could hope from a wedding:

A gorgeous couple (Madeleine & Ryan), a beautiful venue, and warm and happy guests.

Mother nature played it’s part as well, sunshine when we arrived, rain when the ceremony started, and ( just to throw a little bit of extra drama in the mix) the chapel was covered in fog when we meant to take photos outside.
