Day three of my mushroom tour, today at Bardon Central.
Head chef David Clem took the time to show me around. The venue is quite a bit larger than I initially thought, has several areas, and caters for conferences, weddings, you name it.

Daniel Ridgeway @ Little Truffle
This morning I embarked on a 4 day “tour de champignon” for the Australian Mushroom Growers, to meet some of the best mushroom chefs in Australia.
First stop was a small but fine restaurant in Mainbeach called “Little Truffle“, run by executive chef & owner Daniel Ridgeway.

Hungry?
As a photographer, you often run all day, ending up rushing into the next MD just to get something in your stomach.
Not so if you shoot for the Gold Box Restaurant Challenge.
I was invited to fly to Mackay Queensland to be part of another of their exciting events, and the food was amazing!
A feast for eyes & stomach…




Chill’ed
I spent another day at the Chill On Tedder Restaurant, photographing dishes and restaurant details for their upcoming new menu and website. Leesa and Darren are really nice people and the food is fantastic. So if you’re ever in the region and up for a treat, stop by and enjoy a candle light dinner. And don’t forget to say “hello” from me!

Gold Box Restaurant Challenge
For the last two years I have been covering the “Gold Box Restaurant Challenge” event for the organisers Ocearn Pty Ltd. This years event took place yesterday in the Main Ballroom of the Crowne Plaza Royal Pines Golf Resort & Spa, Gold Coast.
Celebrity Chef Peter Howard and Channel 9′s Paul “Fatty” Vautin hosted the evening and gave the audience an inside look at all the action taking place in the kitchens set up around the Ballroom.
15 of the best regional chefs and restaurants have been given the same products and each team had to present 4 unique menus. The winner (like last year): Restaurant Room 81.
Photography: 15 times 4 dishes = one dish every 3 minutes for 3 hours non-stop. After that, no sitting down, the gala guests had arrived and it was time to get good shots of the guests and sponsors in the foyer. One hour later, the guests were seated and the gala begun – which – of course – had to be covered. In short: It has been a marathon!
